2013 Ford Mustang GT – Front view HID Headlights

No sub-heading needed or further explanation needed. Whoever knows what the words from the heading mean has all the information necessary to know if he wants to read the article. Whoever doesn’t know the meaning probably has no interest in cars, and there is no use explaining anything to him, since there is no way we can squeeze in the history of the institution the Ford Mustang is in this text. And it takes time to fully appreciate the magnitude of one of the most famous car models in history.

The latest incarnation of it is a 2013 model with refreshed design, loads of useful and fun technology and a 5.0l V8 engine, producing 420 hp, 8 more than the previous version, which doesn’t seem so much, but we see no reason why not to welcome it. Still, power is nothing without torque and this monster has 390 lb-ft of it. When it comes to its transmission, there are two options, both six speed, with the manual being standard (and much loved by the purists), and automatic being optional, and probably more appreciated by the American buyers. When it comes to fuel consumption it is said to be 15 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. Not the best, but if you like to complain about fuel consumption, don’t buy a 420 hp car. Just as simple as that.

The competition is what actually spawned this car. It is supposed to keep up with the Chevrolet Camaro SS and Dodge Challenger R/T, and it does just that. The upgrades keep Mustang in the game very well, while waiting for the whole new model to come out. Just imagine that one. If you are not convinced that GT is enough to compete, than you can opt for Shelby GT with 650 hp.

But, let’s get back to this one. The numbers are in the second paragraph of the article, but the feel is something numbers can’t depict. American cars used to be great to listen and drive. In the straight line. But Mustang’s driving dynamics have improved greatly, with its new suspension, smaller weight and loads of little electronic helpers. Still the reduced weight seems to be the biggest strength of this gem.

On the other hand, Mustangs have always been beautiful, and it is not easy to design the new look of something the people already love. But, they have done it. The grille is very aggressive, it has HID headlights and LED accent strips and fog lights. It is beautiful.

Track Apps are what you also get with the 2013 Mustang. This actually gives you the chance to measure the things you couldn’t do without special measuring equipment. For example, you can measure the G force while turning, accelerating or braking. It can tell you your time for 0-30, 0-60, 0-100, eighth-mile and quarter mile for all you drag racing freaks. If you get too fast, you can also measure stopping distances, and you can see all this on a big and bright 4.2 inches screen.

So, what is the verdict? 2013 Mustang GT is an amazing car. It’s good and fun to drive, it has so much power and great steering characteristics, but also with reasonably comfortable suspension for a sports car. It is definitely worth a purchase for under $40,000. There is still time to wait for the all new one, and this can definitely help you kill the time.
