The Aventador, named after a bull that became famous in 1993 after a bloody and spirited fight, was supposed to replace one of the best sports cars today, the Murcielago. How well it has done we can see from the fact that there are not many cars that can be considered to be Aventador’s competitors. So, let’s see what makes it so special.

It’s a Lambo, so that should cover most of what you should know about this car. It’s a fearless racing machine. Some curves and loads of sharp edges and that’s Aventador for you. Still, there are many things hidden in this one. A powered rear spoiler that comes out at higher speeds and optional see-through engine cover can really make this car look great. But, that’s not all. Scissor doors come as standard and really look great, so this car is amazing even at standstill.

We could spend hours explaining every line of this car and still fail to convey how beautiful and harmonious it looks. Instead, we’ll tell you the things that are more difficult to see, such as its aluminum subframes and the plastic reinforced with carbon fiber. You can choose from 13 colors with three mat finishes that look amazing. Even the brake calipers can be in four colors.

This is perfect as well. The interior is a great mixture of modern and aggressive sport design, but with perfect usability, since it has a very conventional layout. Everything is easy to find, read and operate. The main instrument is a circular LCD, but with the appearance of an analog piece.

The central console is large with numerous controls and a screen at the top. A backup camera and a great stereo come as standard. The seats are very comfortable and large, keeping you in place all the time. Although many sport cars have small interiors that cramp up the passengers, this is not the case with Aventador. It is roomy and comfortable, but it still reminds you that you are in a Lamborghini wherever you look.

We’ve already said how great the interior and the exterior are, but this part is beyond great. The engine is 6.5 l V12 with whopping 700 hp and 509 lb-ft or torque. The transmission is 7-speed auto manual with paddles (but without the conventional stick shifter available) and it helps move all four wheels. Depending on the place where you take this beast, via the Drive Select Mode System, you can choose from the modes that differ in throttle response, transmission, steering and the settings of the stability systems. The brakes and suspension are high end as well, the former one being a double-wishbone and the latter being carbon ceramics.

With the starting MSRP of $376,000 (still, many options available can increase the price significantly), the Aventador presents a serious competition to the Ferrari an 599 GTB Fiorano and the Lexus LFA, but it is the most powerful of all three. Even though the people from Lamborghini boast that they have reduced the fuel consumption compared to the Murcielago, many people feel that the consumption of 13.7 mpg is very low. To them I say they should buy a Prius and shut the hell up. This is a Lamborghini, for Christ’s sake. Who cares about the fuel consumption?
