On average, golfers lose about 4 golf balls per round, adding around 20 minutes of extra time spent simply searching for their ball. It’s a frustrating aspect of the game, but there’s not much you can do about it, right? Well, that’s not entirely true. A company named Prazza has been manufacturing golf ball finders for years now, and if you want to enjoy your game without having to spend the extra time searching for your ball, then read on.

The Word

There are many products that claim to help you find your lost golf balls, however, many of these products just simply don’t work. A quick search in your favorite search engine will reveal that perhaps the most obvious of the these products is “golf ball finder glasses.” While, in theory, maybe “filtering out” some of the colors of the foliage might help you, what if all you had to do was hold a tracking device that would point you to the exact destination of your ball?

The Specs

The technology is ingenious. A ball with an embedded RFID chip and a handheld tracking to allow you to find the ball easily. You simply hit the ball, which transmits a signal to the tracker. You pull out the tracker, and walk straight to your ball every time. Simple, yet innovative. The RFID chip can transmit up to around 100 yards, meaning that once you are within that radius, the tracker will take you straight to your ball.

The tracking unit charges via a USB charger, and has plenty of battery assuming you don’t lose your ball after every single swing. The unit works well, however, will not help for balls hit into water or into greenery too thick to traverse.

Final Thoughts

The major issue with this unit is the price. The complete unit costs $300, which seems to go against the fact that is marketed to the “recreational” player. Additional balls cost about $40 (for 3), which can be majorly off-putting for many. When you weigh the benefit vs. the cost, it becomes a total issue of how important it is to you to easily find your ball and how much cash you have to burn doing so. This a very innovative product, however, it is a little expensive for the “recreational golfer,” and not too appealing for the pro. In the end, it’s up to you to decide; or, we could continue to search for our golf balls the old way until newer technology drives the price down where it should be.
