After seven years since the last time the Rolling Stones worked together in studio, one of the greatest rock and roll bands in history recorded two new songs in Paris earlier this year. The new songs called ‘Doom and Gloom’ and ‘One Last Shot’ were produced by Don Was, the producer of the five previous Stones album and both songs will be released on the band’s compilation album  called ‘Grrr!’ set for release in November. The song ‘Doom and Gloom’ was published on YouTube earlier today and can be heard here:

The new single is a part of the 50th anniversary celebration for The Rolling Stones. The new single, compilation album, book and the much anticipated ‘Crossfire Hurricane’ documentary set for release in October all make 2012 a great year for the Rolling Stones fans, especially since the last album from The Rolling Stones ‘A Bigger Bang’ came out back in 2005.

It’s been fifty years since the Stones first rocked the world and, having that in mind, the song  ‘Doom And Gloom’ sounds pretty good. It’s not really ‘Satisfaction’, ‘Paint It Black’ or ‘You Got Me Rocking’, but it is a decent track from the Stones. The band went back to their rock and blues roots in ‘Doom And Gloom’ and what we get is a classic Rolling Stones track – it’s swampy, it’s bluesy, it’s heavy, it’s energetic, it’s dirty and it’s only rock and roll and that can’t be bad at all, right?
