There are two characteristics of Hollywood films that are universally accepted as guaranteed ways to attract men: the first, and foremost, is sex appeal. The second, and almost as important, is epic fight scenes. There are literally thousands of scenes that deserve to be on this list; but this is the Top 10, so we had to narrow it down. These are our picks, leave a comment and tell us what you think.

10. Road House (1989)

 Dalton vs. Jimmy

Patrick Swayze is definitely not the most famous fighter on the list, however, as Dalton, he shines in this fight scene is the only one of the Top 10 that ends with a man ripping another man’s throat out with his bare hands. Enough said.

9. Oldboy (2003)

Hallway Fight Scene

Based on a Japanese Manga (comic book), Oldboy is a Korean mystery thriller which is currently in the process of being remade under director Spike Lee. The main character, Oh Dae-su is imprisoned without explanation for 15 years. He passes time planning his revenge and contemplating suicide, but is released mysteriously on a rooftop. Later, one one of the most dramatic and well-played fight scenes of all time takes place in a hallway. Fun fact: this scene was filmed in only 1 take, which is pretty amazing.

8. Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (1980)

Luke Skywalker vs. Darth Vader

Undoubtedly one of the most recognized films on the list, this scene produced one of the most recognized, reenacted, and parodied movie line misquotes of all time: “Luke, I am your father.” The actual words spoken by Darth Vader are “No. I am your father.” Nonetheless, the fight scene is a grand culmination of the series up to that point.

7. The Way of the Dragon (1972)

Tang vs. Colt

There are two names that should be on every man’s list of Hollywood badasses: Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris. The Way of the Dragon brings them both together for an unforgettable fight scene. Commence stereotypical Kung-Fu noises now.

6. Drunken Master II (1994)

Wong Fei Hung vs. Ken Lo

What do you get when you combine a bunch of violent protestors and a drunken martial (Jackie Chan) artist in a steel factory? A bunch of disappointed protesters and an amazing final fight fueled by industrial strength ethanol. Enjoy.

5. Rocky IV (1985)

Rocky vs. Ivan Drago

Even if, for some unknown reason, you aren’t real familiar with the Rocky series, chances are you have heard of, or at least seen, Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren). After Drago mercilessly beats Apollo Creed (eventually resulting in his death), Drago shows no remorse. In a dramatic, nail-biting bout, Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) and Drago exchange punches for 15 rounds, until the winner is decided by knockout.

4. Bloodsport (1988)

Dux vs. Li

After nearly defeating the final opponent of the tournament, Dux (Jean-Claude Van Damme) is blinded by quicklime. This forces him to fight blind, and his opponent is not very pleased with the results.

3. Kill Bill (2003)

The Bride vs. GoGo and the Crazy 88s

We could very easily populate a Top 10 with fight scenes from the Kill Bill series alone, so choosing just one was really tough. However, after watching this fight scene, it will be apparent why it was our choice.

2. The Matrix Revolutions (2003)

Neo vs. Agent Smith

Touted as “the final fight” between Neo and Agent Smith, the battle is long, drawn out, and everything you would expect from a fight scene.

1. Enter the Dragon (1973)

The Final Battle

There is one thing for certain: Bruce Lee produced some of the most epic fight scenes of any other Hollywood actor in his short career. The final fight scene in Enter the Dragon is, in our opinion, the best fight scene of all time. Not only because it is bad ass, but because it is classic. Thousands of fight scenes in later movies draw from the elements of this scene, and this scene influenced many martial artists in their real-life pursuits of fame and glory. We salute you, Mr. Lee.
